EMBODIMENT
Understanding yoga is a process of embodiment. Embodiment comes only from practice. Teaching can only be as effective as our own embodiment of integrity. If we have not become deeply intimate, with the wisdom of our body speaking as sensation, and the biomechanical principles of somatic integrity our teaching will not deliver. Only in our own practice does our knowledge become real and usable on the basis of a deep intimacy with how the body responds to our actions and intentions and reveals its intrinsic unity with mind and spirit. Yet this is only possible when our practice is based directly and deeply on the inherent intelligence and integrity of the body. The Dynamic Yoga Training Vinyasas are designed to establish new neuromsucular pathways of integrity for the whole body. They allow the whole body to recalibrate itself gradually, effortlessly and permanently. Then it is always able to function from its inherent integrity and reveal its relationship to mind and spirit.
This is not a matter of becoming flexible and strong, but of becoming sensitive to, and initmate with, the inherent integrity of your body. If this foundation has not been established through dedicated practice teaching yoga is like building castles on sand: as disappointing as it is ineffective. If it has been, both you and your students will be able to undertake the journey of yoga as an unfolding delight and satisfaction in the innate unity of body, mind and spirit. This is a journey that can not be based on knowledge, information, ambition or hope, but depends entirely on sensitivity to the wisdom of the body expressing itself through sensation. Sensitivity can only be developed in situations in which the body’s inherent integrity is being accomodated, not challenged or compromised. Therefore the bodimind must be brought to functional, structural and eneregtic integrity through an effective Vinyasakrama that sensitises, awakens, integrates and opens the whole body gradually, safely and effectively. This is Dynamic Yoga.
