This course offers a balanced and comprehensive introduction to the art of self practice. The Form Module focusses on embodying the dynamics of integrity through a comprehensive range of integrating yoga postures. The Practice Module presents four Dynamic Yoga Practice Series which serve as the basis of a sound, safe and effective yoga self practice. The Self Practice Module allows you to develop and refine these and other practice possibilities under expert guidance.
THE CONTENT includes:
- The practice OF SURYANAMASKAR to awaken the inherent wisdom of the body
- THE ART OF INTEGRATION applying the dynamics of integrity to yoga postures, pranayama and meditation
- APPLYING THE BANDHAS as the integrating heart of yoga practice, and as a lens for pranayama amd meditation
- THE DEEPENING OF INTERNALISATION through the bandhas, free breathing, breath-body synchronisation, effortless effort, pratyahara, pranayama and meditation.
You will learn the following Practice Series:
- VINYASAMERASYA. This Practice Sequence focusses on establishing deep, core strength, while opening the supporting joints of the upper and lower body. The series focusses on extensions and rotations, and includes xandranamaskar and inversions. Being a maintaining, rather than an opening practice, it provides deep organic and energetic nourishment to body and mind, which fertilises more challenging opening series.
- VINYASADANDASYA. This Practice Sequence focusses on releasing and strengthening the back. Its primary purpose is to develop core strength, while improving the strength and mobility of the spine. The series focusses on strengthening backbends and forward bends and includes xandranamaskar and inversions. It releases the back muscles, while strengthening the core muscles of the trunk. This generates a deep structural strength and flexibility.
- VINYASABUJASYAThis Practice Sequence reverses the energy flow sending it down from the higher to the lower chakras. This has a deep softening and rejuvenating effect. It allows the body to open deeply and easily. At the same time it counters negative effects of distorted kundalini by settling and grounding unstable energy flow.
- VINYASANIXISYA. This Practice Sequence focusses on releasing each part of the body from habituated tension and overexertion. The series focusses on the closed standing postures that invite deep structural interation.The postures used are are sequenced to create deep release in all the joints of the bodwy, while strengthening the muscles supporting each joint, thereby inviting the possibility of deep integration in the whole body.
